Abstract
We describe a novel accelerometer in which the sensing element is a weighted diaphragm. The displacement of the diaphragm produced by acceleration is measured using a miniature hemispherical air-spaced Fabry-Perot interferometer, of which one mirror is mounted on the diaphragm.
