Abstract
Tears of the posterior root of the medial meniscus are becoming increasingly recognized. Early identification and treatment of these tears help halt the progression of cartilage degeneration and osteoarthritis of the knee. Repair of these tears is essential for recreating the hoop stress of the medial meniscus. In this note, we describe a successful arthroscopic technique to repair this lesion. A posteromedial portal is established by which two 2-0 PDS sutures are placed through the meniscus root and pulled down through a trans-tibial tunnel and fixed using an EndoButton distally along the anterolateral cortex of the tibia. This has been performed successfully in five patients with no complications.Entities:
