Abstract
The effect of chlorpromazine on cholera-toxin-induced intestinal fluid secretion (experimental cholera) has been tested in vivo in the mouse. It is shown that intramuscular injection of chlorpromazine 1 hr prior to toxin challenge effectively inhibits the net secretory response of the intestine. It is suggested that this effect might be due to inhibition of adenylate cyclase since chlorpromazine inhibits the increase of cyclic AMP concentration in vitro in mouse thymocytes incubated with cholera toxin.Entities:
