Abstract
Osteoporotic fractures are a frequent cause of disability and a loss of quality of life in old age. Maintenance of muscle function and balance, a daily calcium intake of 1,000 mg, sufficient vitamin D, and a prudent use of fall- and osteoporosis-associated drugs are key components of fracture prevention. The German guideline recommends to initiate a specific long-term osteoporosis medication in individuals with a 30% 10-year risk for hip fractures and vertebral fractures.Entities:
