Abstract
This article describes how the multi-faceted Rasch model (MFRM) can be applied to item and rater analysis and the types of information that is made available by a multifaceted analysis of constructed-response items. Particularly, the text describes evidence that is made available by such analyses that is relevant to improving item and rubric development as well as rater training and monitoring. The article provides an introduction to MRFM extensions of the family of Rasch models, a description of item analysis procedures, a description of rater analysis procedures, and concludes with an example analysis conducted using a commercially available program that implements the MFRM, Facets.Mesh:
