Abstract
Three cases of candida endophthalmitis complicating critical illness in young adult surgical patients with implications for safer practice are presented. We highlight how early ophthalmological examination can aid in the management of such critically ill patients. Clinicians need to be vigilant for the early diagnosis and aggressive treatment of hospital acquired opportunistic candida infection in at risk patients. Time may be of the essence as sight and life are at risk.Entities:
