Abstract
In purple nonsulfur bacteria and cyanobacteria, there is close interaction between the photosynthetic and respiratory electron transport chains, which share identical redox proteins. Recent findings that the thylakoid membranes of eukaryotic chloroplasts may have respiratory functions suggest that the interaction of photosynthesis and respiration may be a common feature of all photosynthetic cells.Mesh:
