[The chronic disability syndrome: a frustrating issue in primary care].

Ilan Heinrich1.

Abstract

Chronic disability syndrome is one of the stumbling blocks of primary care. The medical health organizations, as well as the patients, sense significant frustration being helpless in tagging the various symptoms under a nomenclatural diagnosis, in order to suggest a proper treatment approach. Major attention should be focused upon the diagnostic procedure not to miss a solvable and treatable cause. NevertheLess, as the comorbidity index demonstrates high probability indicators for sick role induced malfunctioning, so should the primary care physician intervene. A medical confrontation along with patient's family support might be inevitable just to maintain a reasonable vague chance for cure and functional recovery.
