Abstract
Infestation by the zoonotic trematode Fasciolopsis buski (fasciolopsiasis) is seen in several parts of South-East Asia. Abdominal pain, diarrhoea, mucosal ulceration, intestinal obstruction, anasarca, and even fatality are described following heavy infestation. We present here the case of a 10-year-old boy from the Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, India with heavy infestation by Fasciolopsis buski causing intestinal perforation. Fasciolopsiasis is by no means rare but its presentation as a case of intestinal perforation is extraordinary.Entities:
