Unusual patterns in contact dermatitis: medicaments.

Mark D P Davis1.

Abstract

Allergic contact dermatitis to topical medicaments occurs often. Common medicaments associated with allergic contact dermatitis include topically applied antibiotics, antihistamines, nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs, anesthetics, and corticosteroids. In cases of suspected allergic contact dermatitis, medicaments that the patient is using should be included when patch testing. Body sites susceptible to allergic contact dermatitis to topical medicaments include scalp, face, anogenital area, and lower extremities.
