Abstract
Older Turkish migrant workers who came to the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1960s and 1970s to establish a financial basis for a better life after returning to Turkey have remained longer than initially intended. For many of them, the question has arisen of whether the actual goal of their migration--a return to the native country--can be realized. Based on the results of nonstandardized interviews, conflicts and problems of aging Turkish migrant workers are described and discussed. Central aspects are the cultural identity and the longing for their native country, as well as the social rootedness of their children in the FRG. The latter may well stand in the way of a return to Turkey. Furthermore, financial, legal, and health aspects play an important role in the future of aging Turkish migrants.Entities:
