Role of the fungus--Periconiella sp. in destruction of biomedical waste.

Anupriya Pandey1, H S Gundevia.

Abstract

The disposal of biomedical waste is a burning problem in developing countries due to scarcity of resources and funds in view of its high cost involved. In this paper, a very cheap, easily available and effective method by using fungus--Periconiella sp. isolated from cow dung was successfully tried, which degrades the biomedical waste materials very efficiently and quickly without leaving any trace of harmful effect on the population.
