Case study: Imiquimod 5% cream in the treatment of a large nodular basal cell carcinoma.

Raymond M Shulstad1.

Abstract

An 85-year-old female presented to the office with a 3.5 x 2 cm basal cell carcinoma on her left neck. After the patient refused all conventional interventions, topical treatment with imiquimod 5% cream was initiated. Although not indicated for treating nodular basal cell carcinomas, imiquimod may be a viable option for large basal cell carcinomas when patients are unable or unwilling to have surgical interventions.
