Abstract
Guidelines serve the decision-making process in medicine and must, therefore, be of high methodical and professional quality and must not be influenced by financial or commercial interests. Sniderman and Furberg have demanded that the process of guideline-making must be fundamentally reassessed and optimized for American circumstances. Their demands are critically assessed and commented on for the development of guidelines of the German Society for Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine.Mesh:
