Abstract

Inappropriate prescribing of antibioticsfor acute respiratory tract infections contributes to the increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistance. In this second article of a series on antibiotic resistance, the authors discuss common respiratory infectious processes. A CDC campaign to educate both clinicians and the public about the judicious and effective use of antibiotics is described.
