[Consensus conference on the diagnosis of lung carcinoma].

N van Zandwijk1.

Abstract

A consensus meeting on the diagnosis of lung cancer took place on 16 February 1990. The main reason for this meeting was the result of an inquiry held among lung specialists which showed considerable differences in the diagnosis (diagnostic work-up) of lung cancer. This was the first time that a demonstrable difference led to the organisation of a consensus meeting. The strategies and advice regarding diagnosis of this group of tumours are discussed in this report of the meeting.
