Abstract
Depression and demographic variables, ie, age, sex, and income were used to predict emergency treatment and hospital admissions of 46 patients with sickle cell disease. Depression was assessed using the Beck Depression Inventory. The results indicated that depression and age were significantly associated with emergency treatment and hospital admissions. Depression and age accounted for approximately 20% of the variance in explaining emergency treatment and 10% of the variance in explaining hospital admissions.Entities:
