A case report: an adult with omental incarceration of a testicle, an unexpected finding at herniorraphy.

Robert J Marx1, Jacinto Zambrano.

Abstract

Inguinal herniorraphy is the most common surgical procedure in the United States. Intra-abdominal testicles and cryptorchidism can be seen in children with widely patent processus vaginalis. Testicular torsion is a surgical emergency that can be corrected without sacrificing the testicle if treated early and appropriately. No previous case has been reported with an adult's testicle having become incarcerated in the omentum contained within an indirect inguinal hernia sac simulating a possible testicular torsion.
