AIM: The aim of this paper is to describe the strategies used to increase breast-screening participation in a rural general practice with a high Maori population. METHOD: A retrospective process evaluation. RESULTS: The participation rate increased from less than 45% in 2003 to about 98% in both 2005 and 2007. CONCLUSION: The general principles underlying the specific strategies are discussed and may be used by other General Practices and Primary Care Organisations to assist with improving breast screening participation.
