Abstract
Visceral leishmaniasis is a zoonosis of public health importance, and dogs represent one of the main problems. This paper describes the first autochthonous case of canine visceral leishmaniasis in the municipality of Maricá. It provides new facts regarding the geographical distribution of Leishmania (Leishmania) chagasi in the State of Rio de Janeiro.Entities:
