[Malignant melanoma--local treatment of ulcers and necrotic wounds].

Katharina Weeber1.

Abstract

The management of chronic wounds is a challenge for the medical and nursing team. The necrotic tissue should be removed mechanically, beginning with water or normal saline. In some cases medical fly larvae can be useful in this situation. Modern wound antiseptics are much easier and hygienic in their handling. The reduction of unpleasant odor places an important role in the quality of life. Generally, the patients' preferences in the variety of methods to treat problematic wound odor should be taken into consideration.
