Case report: percutaneous catheter management of persistent urine leak due to iatrogenic infundibular stenosis after partial nephrectomy.

Abstract

We describe two cases of persistent urine leak after partial nephrectomies that were both due to surgically induced isolated calices. We hypothesize that the isolated calices were created while suturing the collecting systems, with inadvertent closure of single infundibula. Both cases were managed by percutaneous nephrostomy tube drainage of the renal pelvises and the isolated calices, in addition to indwelling ureteral stents. This novel management technique has not been described in the literature and served as an effective management tool for this rare complication after partial nephrectomy.
