Abstract
Bilateral medial medullary infarct is a rare stroke syndrome and only a handful of cases have been described. Dysphagia as a manifestation of medullary infarcts is well recognized but often associated with lateral medullary infarct. Bilateral medial medullary infarcts are commonly associated with severe dysphagia in addition to a number of other signs and symptoms. We describe a patient who had bilateral medial medullary infarct with severe dysphagia in addition to quadriplegia and respiratory difficulty, and analyze infarct topography with respect to dysphagia, risk factors, vascular territories involved, and prognosis in view of previously reported cases.Entities:
