Abstract
Autoethnographic narrative, personal journal excerpts, and artifacts were employed to narrate the story of my ectopic pregnancy and experiences with the medical field. The name "Doctor" is invoked as a way of objectifying yet protecting the anonymity of the doctor who objectified and did not protect me. A methodological discussion of the following tensions in autoethnography is presented: intimacy/professionality, art/science, showing/explaining.Mesh:
