Abstract
Nucleic acid-based (molecular) analytical methods have utility in discriminating between bowel microbiota of altered compositions. This has been demonstrated in studies involving both experimental animals and humans with inflammation of the bowel. Although alterations in the composition of the microbiota can be demonstrated, future studies need to provide functional links between the candidate proinflammatory agents and disease processes.Entities:
