Abstract
A method has been developed to detect spots on 2-D gel images. It is based on an analogy with beads flowing uphill on the surface of the gel image and on the analysis of their paths. This method does not need image smoothing, thereby allowing for conservation of the resolution of the original image. In addition, it allows for the detection of overlapping spots, even when there is no valley between their centres.Mesh:
