Abstract
BACKGROUND: Increasing numbers of general practitioners access web based education programs for continuing professional development (CPD). Web based programs vary in style, content, relevance, reliability, authorship and sponsorship, and hence educational quality. OBJECTIVE: This article outlines how to choose a web based CPD program. DISCUSSION: Busy GPs need to maximise their time by enrolling in effective CPD programs. Effective web based education programs implement educational theory on adult learning and the development of clinical competence.
