Abstract
It is shown that the complex of iron(III) with 1,10-phenanthroline(phen) is suitable as a reagent for determination of some anions and organic compounds. By a redox reaction with the analytes the reagent forms the intensely coloured chelate [Fe(phen)(3)](2+), which is extractable as an ion-association complex with a suitable counter-ion and allows the development of sensitive spectrophotometric methods of determination. Besides the fundamentals, some remarks on analytical applications are given.Entities:
