Abstract

In October 2007, five Intensive Care Nurses who trained at Epworth Hospital went to Rwanda to participate in a foreign aid program called "Operation Open Heart", run by the Sydney Adventist Hospital, Wahroonga, New South Wales Australia. The program was based at the King Faisal Hospital in Kigali, Rwanda and is part of a health care outreach project that sends teams of specialist doctors and health professionals to perform open heart surgery on children and adults with congenital heart abnormalities in under-developed countries.
