Using a wiki to meet graduate nursing education competencies in collaboration and community health.

Debbie Ciesielka1.

Abstract

The wiki is an innovative means of creating, editing, and disseminating information in an online environment. Students and faculty may be most familiar with Wikipedia--the free online encyclopedia that anyone can author--but less familiar with the possibilities of the wiki as a learning tool. This article describes the use of a wiki as a means to foster collaboration and meet core competencies related to community study. The graduate nursing students completing the project created a wiki that not only showcased the community of study, but also gave them a better appreciation of group work.
