Abstract
A total of 21 surface soil samples covering the whole territory of Taiyuan city were collected for analysis the 39 polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs). The total PBDEs concentration ranged from 0.016 to 211.416 ng g(-1) in urban soils and 5.961 to 144.162 ng g(-1) in industrial plant soils. PBDE homologues analysis and principal component analysis (PCA) revealed that the major source of PBDEs in Taiyuan might be potentially associated with the prevalent use of deca-BDE as a flame retardant. Furthermore, increasing PBDEs contamination was observed in north Taiyuan because of the degree of urbanization and the distribution of industrial plants.Entities:
