Abstract
Despite fears in recent years that the federal government and courts would make hospital mergers impossible, mergers are continuing to take place at a regular pace. But what happens in the aftermath of a hospital merger--both to the hospitals involved and to their communities? Four case studies explore the difficult issues that hospitals face. In addition, we take a look at the Roanoke and Rockford cases, and what the hospitals involved are doing today.Mesh:
