Abstract
The authors report a case of bilateral purulent pleurisy consecutive to spontaneous rupture of the oesophagus (Boerhaave's syndrome). In such cases Mackler's triad, when complete, confirms the diagnosis. Standard radiography of the chest remains essential as it shows, at an early stage, the presence of mediastinal emphysema.Entities:
