Abstract
Various packing materials have been used for closed reduction of nasal bone fractures or for septorhinoplasty. Most patients experience significant discomfort after the surgery owing to the lack of nasal breathing, and there are many reports concerning the complications related to nasal packing. Although nasal packing material with nasal airway maintenance is commercially available, the authors have developed an easy method to fabricate nasal packing materials with airway maintenance by using Merocel (Medtronic Xomed, Minneapolis, Minnesota) and a silastic suction catheter (16F, Qingdao Sewon Medical Co Ltd, Qingdae, China). The authors believe this idea, and innovation will be very useful for surgeons and patients of young age.Entities:
