Rapid detection of infectious bursal disease antibodies by counterimmunoelectrophoresis.

N W Berg1.

Abstract

Counterimmunoelectrophoresis was used to detect infectious bursal disease virus-specific precipitating antibodies in chicken sera. The method was found to be sensitive, simple, reproducible and rapid - detecting precipitins after 45 min. Results could be read visually, without staining, and they compared favourably with results obtained with the agar-gel precipitation test.
