Practical body MRI-A paediatric perspective.

Oystein E Olsen1.

Abstract

This review is aimed at practicing radiologists and technicians, and seeks to explore the main factors influencing quality in body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), paediatric in particular. Important considerations include the selection of voxel size, striking the right balance between achievable signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) versus allowable motion artefact when adjusting the acquisition time, and optimising image contrast, which often is inherently different compared with adult pathologies. Based on this, optimisation of staple pulse sequences, and a practical approach to body imaging, will be discussed in more detail.
