Epithelioid osteosarcoma of the maxilla: report of an unusual case.

H Kaveri1, K Rekha, V A Punnya.

Abstract

Epithelioid osteosarcoma is a rare histological variant of a conventional osteosarcoma that contains epithelioid cells with a mesenchymal component. It has rarely been reported in the jawbones and we know of only two other cases, one each in the maxilla and the mandible. We describe a rare case of epithelioid osteosarcoma in a 4(1/2)-year-old boy, and its immunohistochemical evaluation using cytokeratin and epithelial membrane antigen.
