Diagnosis and management of intracerebral hemorrhage in elderly patients.

Abstract

An analysis of the risk factors and clinical presentation of intracerebral hemorrhage in the elderly is provided. Specific pathogenic mechanisms that apply to the elderly, such as cerebral amyloid angiopathy, are discussed in detail. General management of intracerebral hemorrhage is discussed, along with specific issues related to the surgical indications of the various types of intracerebral hemorrhage.
