Failure of polyethylene in total hip arthroplasty presenting as a pelvic mass.

Kuo Hung Bernard Lin1, Ngai Nung Lo.

Abstract

Failure of total hip arthroplasty because of osteolysis caused by surface wear of acetabular polyethylene bearings has long been recognized. We report the case of a patient with an unusual presentation of a pelvic mass 20 years after he underwent total arthroplasty of his left hip.
