Abstract
Gastrointestinal hemorrhage is an infrequent major complication of gastric bypass. We present a 22-year-old morbidly obese man who underwent a laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and had several life-threatening hemorrhages from both the gastric pouch and gastric remnant, associated with an intra-abdominal hemorrhage. The patient underwent two subsequent reoperations, leading eventually to gastrectomy. The possibility to discover all the sources of bleeding after gastric bypass is discussed, and the adoption of a modification of the procedure that allows the investigation of the excluded stomach is suggested.Entities:
