The structure of cauliflower mosaic virus: a neutron diffraction study.

C Chauvin1, B Jacrot, G Lebeurie, L Hirth.

Abstract

Neutron scattering has been used to determine the organization of cauliflower mosaic virus. The virus can be represented by a model that consists essentially of a protein shell surrounding and in direct contact with a shell of DNA. Protein seems to be present at a low concentration directly beneath the DNA shell, and the center of the virion seems to be free of DNA and protein.
