Primary breast cancer: risk factors, diagnosis and management.

Abstract

This article focuses on the risk factors, diagnosis and management of primary breast cancer. It describes the treatments that may be offered to patients including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormone therapy and targeted therapy. The role of the nurse in caring for patients with breast cancer is also discussed.
