Abstract
Urinary excretion of nitrite and of volatile and nonvolatile N-nitroso compounds is increased in schistosomiasis (bilharzia) patients with Schistosoma haematobium infection. This observation suggests that the formation of nitrite and N-nitroso compounds in vivo in the urinary bladder of bilharzial patients may be an important etiological factor in the induction of bladder cancer associated with S. haematobium infection.Entities:
