How telemedicine is aiding prompt ECG diagnosis in primary care.

Jonathon Lieberman1.

Abstract

This article examines the approach taken by St Gabriel's Medical Centre in Prestwich, Manchester in monitoring and managing cardiac conditions within a primary care setting. It outlines how diagnosing and assessing cardiac problems in-surgery can improve patient care and working practice for GPs and clinicians while alleviating some of the financial and operational burden on secondary and emergency care providers. The cardiac telemedicine service imports cardiac expertise into a GP's surgery providing clinicians with fast, expert ECG interpretations, enabling them to deliver timely and preventative care to their patients.
