AMPK and Raptor: matching cell growth to energy supply.

D Grahame Hardie1.

Abstract

In a recent issue of Molecular Cell, Gwinn et al. (2008) suggest a novel mechanism by which AMPK signals to mTOR, and they provide new insight into how information about cellular energy status is fed into decisions about cell growth and proliferation.
