Office-based interventions to promote healthy sexual behavior.

Abstract

In this article we describe adolescent-friendly office policies, address approaches to developmentally appropriate counseling in the office setting, and outline the medical needs of the sexually active patient. Specific topics include optimizing office effectiveness and efficiency, counseling regarding appropriateness of and readiness for sexual intimacy, immunizations, prevention of sexually transmitted infections, and pregnancy and addressing sexual orientation and sexual violence.
