Abstract
BACKGROUND: Adequate levels of physical activity can assist with weight control efforts, however, only a modest number of national studies have examined the physical activity patterns by weight control status. This article aims to describe patterns of physical activity among men and women who reported engaging in weight control practices.Entities:

a Weight control status refers to: Lose weight refers to those who self-reported trying to lose weight or who lost ≥ 10 pounds in the past year; maintain weight refers to those who self-reported trying not to lose weight and were trying to maintain weight.
b Unweighted sample size.
c Percent is weighted. Prevalence estimates are age-adjusted (except for those by age group) to the 2000 U.S. standard population using the age group found in the table.
d Statistically significant (p < 0.001) by gender.

a Separate logistic regression equations for each physical activity variable. Dependent variables: < 150 min/week (yes/no), 150–420 min/week (yes/no), 420–630 min/week (yes/no), ≥ 630 min/week (yes/no). Models are adjusted for age, race/ethnicity, and education.
b Estimates may be unstable because sample size is < 50.
