Abstract
In 40 patients receiving induction therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia the influence of lithium carbonate on the regeneration of haematopoiesis was investigated. It was observed that lithium treatment decreases chemotherapy-induced suppression of granulo- and megacariopoiesis. The frequency of remissions and the survival time were significantly higher for the patients receiving lithium if compared with the control group. The number of CFU-GM colonies in vitro after 14-th days of incubation was also statistically higher in the lithium treated patients.Entities:
