The surface functionalisation of gold nanoparticles with metal complexes.

James D E T Wilton-Ely1.

Abstract

The use of nanoparticles is now expanding well beyond the field of pure materials science. In particular, the modification of the surface functionality is playing a key role in catalysis, sensor applications and immobilisation of biomolecules. The use of coordinated metals on the outer surface of gold nanoparticles is the focus of this short article.
