Carcinoid tumor of the appendix: ultrasound findings in early pregnancy.

Ultrasound examination of a woman in early pregnancy with right lower quadrant abdominal pain demonstrated an edematous appendix with amorphous fluid surrounding the appendix. At laparotomy, these findings were confirmed. On pathological evaluation following surgical removal of the appendix a rare case of carcinoid tumor of the appendix was diagnosed.
